Torched Poke Bowls in Canada: What Makes Pokerrito Different

When Pokerrito opened in downtown Vancouver in 2016, we wanted to do something different with poke. Our answer was a warm, smoky bowl, and we were the first to bring torched fish to the poke bowl. Today, torched poke is still our signature, and it is the reason many guests come back for a warm bowl instead of a cold one. You can now find it at Pokerrito stores in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam and Toronto.

What is torched poke?

Torched poke is a poke bowl with warm fish instead of cold raw fish. It has a richer, smoky flavour and still comes with fresh toppings and sauces. For menu details, read our guide to the torched warm bowl.

How is it different from raw poke?

Classic poke is served cold and raw. Torched poke keeps the same bowl format but changes the temperature and the flavour. Many guests who are new to poke tell us the warm version is an easier place to start, while regular poke fans like the extra depth it brings.

Is it the same as aburi sushi?

Aburi is a well known Japanese sushi style with a warm, smoky taste. Our torched poke borrows that idea and brings it to the poke bowl, where you can build your own meal with rice, vegetables and sauces. Aburi sushi is usually served as pressed pieces. Torched poke is served as a bowl or wrapped in a sushi burrito.

What should I order first?

  • Torched Warm Bowl: the classic Pokerrito warm bowl.

  • Aburi Bowl: a bowl inspired by aburi style flavour.

  • Torched Ahi Tuna: a simple, rich fish bowl.

  • Sushi burrito: something you can eat on the go.
